Margaret Shields grew up in Oregon and currently lives Portland.

She has also lived for many years in Kona Hawaii and still spends time there.

She studied Painting and Printmaking at Portland State University from 2003-2006 and went on to do a study abroad with PSU in Italy in 2007.

Margaret then moved to Kona Hawaii and began working with renowned Master Printmaker Hiroki Morinoue. She worked as his print studio assistant from 2012-2015 at The Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa Hawaii. She also taught Painting and Printmaking classes there until 2018.

Since 2020 Margaret and her family have once again resided in Portland. She is a member of Oregon Society of Artists and works from her home studio.

Margaret has participated in many juried and invitational shows in Hawaii and Oregon over the years.

Both in 2016 and 2018 her work was purchased by the Hawaii State Museum for their Art In Public Places collection.
